The 23rd Swiss Economic Forum took place in Interlaken on 10 and 11 June 2021 under the motto ‘New Horizons’. Around 1'350 managers and 60 speakers from the worlds of business, politics and science discussed bold approaches to leadership and resilience in order to ensure corporate success in uncertain times.
One of the highlights was the closing speech by former US Vice President Michael R. Pence, who spoke about political and economic challenges. The conference provided a platform to shed light on new perspectives and develop inspiring ideas for the future.
In her keynote speech at the SEF, Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter called on entrepreneurs to become more involved in social and political discourse. ‘I often recognise a mistrust of politics among companies and managers. Many find it difficult to see themselves as political players.’
The SFS Group has come through the coronavirus crisis relatively unscathed, said Jens Breu in the first talk of the second day of the conference. ‘We know our customers very well thanks to our people on the ground everywhere,’ explained the CEO of the manufacturer of precision moulded parts and mechanical fastening systems based in Heerbrugg.
‘Our most important task is to improve our disaster management,’ said the British star historian and author Niall Ferguson in his opening speech at SEF.2021
‘We belong to Europe and to the EU’ In her keynote speech at SEF.2021, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, emphasised her desire to move the young state forward. Its independence from Serbia was only proclaimed in 2008.
