
Catherine Debrunner
Swiss racing wheelchair athlete
Catherine Debrunner was born in 1995 in the canton of Thurgau and has been dependent on a wheelchair since birth. She enjoyed outdoor activities from an early age and learnt to swim and ski. Since January 2022, she has been a full professional in wheelchair athletics, a sport she has practised since the age of eight. Catherine is characterised by her speed and coordination and enjoys interacting with other athletes. Her sporting achievements are impressive: 6-time Paralympic champion, 5-time world champion, 8-time world record holder and 2-time winner of the overall Abbott World Major Marathons. Catherine also completed her education as a qualified primary school teacher in 2018 and teaches a primary school class alongside her training.
