MapTiler is a software platform for developers to create maps for websites and mobile apps. The start-up is a B2B platform for designing street and satellite maps, integrating proprietary geospatial data and delivering maps to the websites, mobile apps, "on-premise" systems and other products or applications. MapTiler-Cloud is an alternative to Google Maps API and Mapbox APIs that is based on open data and protects user privacy. The company, based in Unterägeri in the canton of Zug, was founded in 2020 by Petr Pridal and has 45 full-time employees to date. Swisstopo, NASA, Siemens, Airbus, Oracle and other companies are among its well-known customers. An estimated 300 million people view MapTiler maps every month. For 2024, they have set themselves the goal of doubling monthly active use.
