"A good bank is profitable and trusted"

"The acquisition of Credit Suisse is a very important moment for UBS, but also for the Swiss financial centre and for Switzerland itself. We feel this responsibility," said Sergio Ermotti, the former and, since April 2023, also new CEO of the big bank, on the SEF stage in an interview with Urs Gredig. "The next few months will be bumpy, but we are very focused." One should not let oneself be guided by nostalgia and feelings in the reorganisation, but rather rely on the facts, the 63-year-old Ticino native said. He would create the necessary structure so that the bank could offer its clients the best possible services and also satisfy its shareholders. In the process, jobs would also have to be cut. After all, a good bank is a profitable bank. And Ermotti wants to restore trust. "A good banker is one who creates trust.
