Dr. David Nabarro is a WHO special envoy for Covid-19 and a co-director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College in London. With his Swiss-based company 4SD, he supports systems leadership for sustainable development. The doctor of medicine has worked in more than 50 countries in various hospitals, governments and universities and in United Nations programmes. In the 90s, he was head of Health and Population and was Director for Human Development in the British Department for International Development. From 1999 to 2017, he held management positions in the UN system (initially at the World Health Organisation and most recently in the office of the UN Secretary-General). Here, he concentrated on disease outbreaks and healthcare systems, food insecurity, climate change and sustainable development. In October 2018, he received the World Food Prize.
