80 percent of SEF participants want to approve the climate protection law in the referendum in ten days' time, as a poll on the SEF app showed. Dieter Vranckx, CEO of Swiss International Air Lines, Antje Kanngiesser, CEO Alpiq Holding AG, Joël Mesot, President of ETH Zurich, and Martin Vetterli, President of EPFL, were very pleased with this result during the discussion on «Switzerland's energy future». «We need support from all sides and many small steps to achieve our climate goals,» said Vranckx, who with Swiss is pursuing a sustainability plan with the three elements of new aircraft, synthetic fuels and new technologies to be climate neutral by 2050. Cooperation is absolutely crucial in the fight against climate change and for energy security, all panelists agreed. To this end, Vetterli has built up a «Coalition of the Willing» at EPFL, consisting of researchers, politicians, philanthropists and business representatives. It is also necessary to work together with other countries. «We need an energy agreement with the EU. We will not get around that,» Mesot clearly emphasised.
