Katalin Novàk is one of the creators of the unique Hungarian family policy idea and model. During her term in office, the notion of family policy, the actual governmental measures and, consequently, the Hungarian demographic trends have undergone a remarkable transformation. She is the editor of several books and the creator of the Stipendium Peregrinum scholarship programme. On her initiative, 2018 was celebrated as the Year of the Family in Hungary. Between 2020 and 2021, she was Minister of Family Affairs. On March 10, 2022, the Hungarian Parliament elected Katalin Novák as President of Hungary. She is the first woman to hold this office and the youngest president in the history of Hungary. In recognition of her professional activities, she has received several national and international awards. In 2019, she was awarded the Knight's Cross of the French Legion of Honor.
